Welcome back to my blog! In this blog I will give a full refection on my project. This is easily one of the most complex projects I have ever worked on. It was also one of the most challenging. With that being said, I've had an amazing time planning, filming, and editing.
From the start I knew this project was going to be intense. The thought of having an 8 weeklong project was extremely daunting. It also meant I had plenty of time to craft every little detail. In the writing process my team and I thought not only about who the characters are but how they became that way and how'd they change throughout the hypothetical film. This was so fun getting to build my character specifical. In a real movie there's no way I'd have that much input.
This excitement continues during filming where I not only got to act but direct the film. These are my two favorite roles in film making. I love being in the action of everything. Making decisions on my toes is nothing new to me but this film was different. There was so much of my hard work being displayed in this opening and I couldn't be prouder of myself. Throughout the obstacles and challenges my team powered through. I didn't have too much control over the editing process, but I tried to help in any way possible.
I had so much fun doing the Creative Critical Reflections. It was a great way to end this project. It gave me a lot of time to reflect on all of my team's hard work. It was also a way to be silly and just have fun after such a long production process. I'm so excited for you to see our film opening and my CCRs. I'll meet you in the future!
Welcome back to my blog! In this blog I update you on the editing process for my CCRs. Like I've previously stated I severely dislike editing, so I wanted to have fun editing these.
For the most part the editing was very straight forward. I added some spice in each video to make it as engaging as possible. I felt the first one needed captions, so I had different color text for each person while they were speaking. It made it a lot easier to follow the dialogue. My favorite part of the video was when I responded to my friend Zach. Remember that silly guy from the photo in the last blog, well, I had some fun responding to him. This was very fun to edit. Here's a photo from my editing timeline as a little sneak peek.
The first CCR ended up being around 6 minutes meaning my second one had to be much shorter. Thankfully, my script for the second one was very concise. It was also a lot easier to edit. I added some photos of the topics I was talking about. This added another element besides me conversing with my dog. I was happy with how this came out and I can't wait for you to see everything. I know you're waiting for another sneak peek so here it is.

Welcome back to my blog! In this blog I update you on the filming's of my CCRs. I recently filmed my CCRs and had a lot of fun doing so. In this blog I will give you details on how it went.
The first one I filmed was the dog interview CCR. I knew it was going to be challenging working with both dogs, but I underestimated just how annoying my dogs are so ... I fired Luna. It was hard to let her go honestly no one knows the bosses' pain in a situation like this. My other employe Cody was a lot easier to manage. He is a little camera-shy speaking on camera but I'm proud of him. (Just remember them being able to talk is our little secret :) He was paid well in many licks of peanut butter off my fingers. Overall, I am very glad with how this filming went. I'm excited to see how it turns out.
The next was the long awaited "Man on the Streets" CCR. I unfortunately had to keep pushing back filming because I couldn't get enough people to help me. I eventually had to settle with a much smaller audience. The bright side of this means everyone got a chance to respond. That was the more important thing in the end. I got some fun behind the scenes photos with my amazing friend Zach!
Welcome back to my blog! In this blog I script for my fourth and final CCR question. The last question is "How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?" This question will be in the same CCR video as the third one. We utilized a lot of different things to be able to achieve the final product.
The first online tool we used was blogger. If that name sounds familiar it's because that's the website, you are reading this blog on! I know that's mind blowing truly. This platform was the perfect resource to formula our ideas and track our progress. It was very helpful to look back at where this project was just weeks ago. I didn't realize how much work I was putting into this project until I looked back at how many blogs I've uploaded this year. I've really enjoyed making theses blogs and I know it has helped my writing skills immensely.
A great hardware we utilized was our camera. Throughout filming we used the Canon T7i. It is a get tool and I'm so grateful I had access to it for my film. I learned even more about this camera and feel very comfortable with it now. Using a professional camera brings a different feel while filming. I love feeling like I'm filming a real movie even if it just a student project.
The wonderful editing software we used was premiere. I've been using premiere for years and was glad to have another opportunity to work with it. It is a professional grade software that I am certified in. It a great software that I definitely recommend. In my next blog post I will talk about the production process of my CCR videos. Welcome back to my blog! In this blog I script for my third CCR question. The third question is "How did your production skills develop throughout this project?" This question is very straight forward. This project was a unique experience for me personally. I have been a part of films before but this time I was way more hands on and had a lot of control on the final product.
For my second CCR video I will be the one getting interviewed. That may sound boring, but you haven't met my lovely interviewers. Everyone I'd like you to meet Cody and Luna!
Now for how I will answer their demands. One of my favorite things to do for films is act. I've been acting in pieces since middle school. So, when we were formulating an idea, I instantly jumped at the chance to act. I was originally the main character but after, so script changes my role evolved. I really enjoy acting and I had to bring on a whole different persona for this role. I love my character, but we aren't too similar. Other than our love for cars we don't have many intersecting interests. It was so exciting to take my own personality away and be a bad guy. Getting to play a character like this takes a lot of time getting to know them. Considering I was creating the character from the ground up it was even more thrilling.
Another huge part of this project for me was directing. I love directing and it has become a passion of mine in the past few years. Not just for film but for broadcast as well. I'm going into broadcasting, and it is my dream to be a director one day. This film was a great opportunity to continue to build my skills. This was hard juggling acting and directing at the same time. Although it was difficult I learned a great deal. This will be the analyzing I will do in my interview. Welcome back to my blog! In this blog I script for my second CCR question. The second question is "How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?" This question may seem easy but thinking literally on how we as teenage film makers would get out opening out to the world is very daring. I'll handle that part of the question towards the end but first I must reveal my idea for my first CCR video!
As a reminder this question and the first question which is "How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?" must be in the same video and have a runtime of around 4 minutes. I never do the easy option when it comes to stuff like this. I want to go all out and make a fun and entertaining video. For my first CCR I won't just be answering these questions my friends and tv classmates will help me answer them. I will do a MOTS (man on the streets) style video. I will go around showing my project to people and see if they can help answer these questions. It will be very fun, and my riveting personality will be able to shine. :) Here is one of my favorite interviewers that specializes in these videos. Please excuse any hearse language. Unfortunately, these videos are all live and that makes scripting very difficult. One thing I can share is what the actual answer to these questions are. As you can see from the research on my last question my responses to those getting it wrong will have to be very detailed. I plan of using quick come backs to fulfill the answers myself if the interviewee isn't up to the challenge.
For the beginning part of the question, it is very simple. Our opening not only stars teens it is also targeted to a teen audience. Perfect for me considering the people I'm asking just happen to be teens. The opening is made with this age group in mind. We did extensive research not only on the genre but living as a high school student at this time gives us a realistic perspective. The conventions of this genre will engage audiences of our target viewers. The answer I'm looking for when interviewing will have to be along these lines.
The next part is more difficult, but I have faith in my classmates and friends. They are all teen film makers and know the struggle of getting recognition for their work. A great way to get our work into the world is my posting it on social platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. These platforms all cater to long form content and our short film opening would do well on them. Another great way would be submitting to film festivals. I know one of my classmates will have this thought and use it to plug our schools very own Lightning Film Festival. This is exactly what I am looking for and their response will be greatly appreciated. I'm so excited to film this. In my next blog I will reveal the next CCR video idea and how it will be scripted. Welcome back to my blog! In this blog I discuss my recent group meeting. I love meeting with other classmates and sharing thoughts and ideas. It is great to get another perspective from someone outside of my own team. We had a great time developing ideas for our Cambridge project. Here is a photo of my lovely group!
For the first part of the question, it is clear that our film follows the conventions of the coming-of-age genre. This genre has been heavily researched by me and my teammates. We have looked a countless examples and found a common ground among them. They usually focus on teens and a journey of self-discovery. Like our main character Atticus's journey. This genre is filled with emotions and connections between characters. Our film opening is no different. It relies of the characters development and how they affect each other.
The next part focuses on group representation. The first group that comes to mind is the LGBTQ+ community. Our leading couple (Kai & Aroura) in the opening is a queer relationship. It is slightly uncommon in Hollywood to have queer characters in a coming of age. One exception that comes to mind is a movie called Book Smart.

Welcome back to my blog! In this blog I will go over how we are including foley in our opening. We got to learn about foley a while back in our Aice media class and decided to integrate it into our project. Foley is the creation of sounds for video in post-production. Foley isn't usually made with what's actually going on in a film. For example, in the movie A Quiet Place they created monster sounds by breaking celery. Yeah, you read that right CELERY. Video about foley for A Quite Place When creating foley you have to get very creative and think outside of the box to be able to get the sound you want to achieve.
Our lovely group member Lee took the liberty of creating some foley for our opening. She used a leather chair to mimic drawing. In our opening our main character Atticus is frantically drawing. It will be very hard to capture the actual sound of him drawing. So, taking the time to make foley is very productive. Lee's very innovative because I would have never thought of this substitution. Welcome back to my blog! In this blog I'll talk a little about editing. Editing is my own personal hell. It is my least favorite part of production. It is very tedious and I'm a huge perfectionist. So, editing takes a lot longer for me than most. I started editing in middle school, so I know how to edit very well. I have to edit quite often for all of my television projects. I always use an editing platform called Adobe Premiere Pro.
Thankfully my teammate Lee likes editing so she's taking the task of editing our film opening. She also uses premiere for her projects. That is the editing software she is using for all of the editing. Here are some photos of the timelines for the film.

Welcome back to my blog! In this blog I will update you on recent filming for our opening! but first I'd thought it would be nice to update you on my trip and how it went! Like I said in my last post me and my teammate Sofia went to a Televison competition in Tampa. It was so much fun, and I learned a great deal. I have some amazing news to share about it as well. Although I didn't mention it in my last post (because I thought it went so badly) I competed in another competition while I was there called sports highlight editing. It was super stressful, and I thought I did horrible BUT I actually WON SECOND PLACE!!!
