My one word film project!

In my Aice media class, I was recently tasked with creating a one-word film. The objective for this film was to create a 60 to 90 second film that conveys one word. This film was also to test my use of shots and angles. My word was "Awe" which originally struck intrigue, the word awe means a lot of different things but some of the synonyms are words like wonder, amazement, and admiration or words like fear and terror, so I thought this project would be a simple task for a word with so much emotion.

When I started the brainstorming process, it proved to be harder than I thought because fitting a story to represent awe in a realistic minute was not an easy task.  My first idea was to have a young student entering the school for the first time and they are scared at first, but they become amazed with everything around them. This idea relied on too much walking so my partner suggested a new idea.

The new story followed a young artist working on their art. They are very disappointed in their work and aren't very proud of it. When they turn it into the teacher he takes in the art and is amazed by its beauty. The teacher hangs the art of on the wall for all the class to see. When the student sees their art hanging, they still aren't proud of it until they see a group of kids look at their work and they are able to see the arts beauty from an outside perspective and are in awe. I took this idea and did a visual demonstration of the story in my story board.  This helped me fully plan out what main shots I wanted in my project. These attachments are my storyboard for my film following the concept above.

After I finished planning, I moved on to filming my project. I played the main character and made sure to show as much emotion as possible. The emotion of the characters is what makes a story feel like you are in the room with them. I got my friends to help me act and totally drew my picture of a little dog. ;)

In the last step of production, editing. I used adobe premiere pro for my editing and got all of my music and audio elements from bullet proof bear. I used properly times cuts and emotional music to bring the audience into the story. I really enjoyed working on this project and was glad that I achieved an emotional story that conveys a heartwarming feeling at the end. For my next project I can try to be more specific with the emotion. The world awe is hard to get an actual sense of, but I hope my work brings joy to its viewers. Thanks for tuning into my blog I'll be sure to share my next project on here!!!
