Music Marketing Project ~ Part 2!

As seen in my last blog post, my group and I created a metal band that we have to plan the branding, marketing, and distribution of. If you'd like to watch our final music video here is the link I hope you enjoy. Agony by Eternal Kiss

Our band was an all-girl metal band called Eternal Kiss. Who was mainly marketed towards female teens. We created socials and even a website! Eternal Kiss Insta & Eternal Kiss Website (This website was the death of me because I didn't know when to stop editing it, needless to say many minutes were used on this aspect of the project.)

To show our full marketing plan we made a slide show as linked here. Slide Show If you're interested in hearing an audio explanation instead here is a video version. Music Marketing Process

In all I can't express how much I enjoyed this project. It truly was one of the most complicated yet fun and rewarding projects I've worked on. I'm so glad I choose my group because we thought out every aspect of this project in depth while having fun with it. My favorite part of the project was filming the music video, but I also really enjoyed making up a band from scratch. It was awesome being able to make each part of the project unique. To sadly wrap up this project here's some of my favorite behind the scenes photos me and my group took!

Music Marketing Project ~ PART1!

The first part of our project was receiving a genre, and my team got HEAVY METAL!!!! This was super exciting because the wheels instantly started, and I began to think what things we could. We had to choose 2 record labels then 2 artist/bands from each label. I chose Warner Music Australia record label and, In the Moment.

After making my choice I dove deep into the lore and found out some background of the band like that it was formed in 2004, the name was changed from its original, and that the singer is female. These are baseline facts but as I went farther, I learned the led guitarist Chris Howorth originally was against the idea of a female lead singer. This wasn't surprising because metal is a male dominated genre. *This element comes into play later in the project*

When I was finished researching the band I had to not only look at their image and the way they market themselves and the band. Thier target audience is Gen Z and millennial. Which are young adults and teens on the age spectrum. They are drawn to relatable experiences, personal growth, a sense of authenticy, and visually engaging elements. They also have a very stylized brand and that it evident of their social media like their Instagram which has 530 thousand followers.

On top of attracting listeners through digital means they also promote themselves through things like Merchandize including shirts and even vinyl's. The also gain marketing from their concerts that can get crazy considering they are a metal band. The band also utilizes postcard campaigns to create a personal connection with their audience. These postcards often contain cryptic messages or musical notations, adding an element of mystery and excitement that encourages fans to engage with the band on a deeper level.

Then it was turn for us to make our own band and we named it Eternal Kiss (was really proud of coming up with the name). Our band is an all-female metal band that relies on extreme personalities and lots of emotion. All four of us created a persona that we can play in our roles as fake band members. I'm the lead singer who is angry and is very passionate about singing in a metal band. I took inspiration from Maria Brink from In the Moment and helped it to build my backstory. Years ago, my character wanted and begged many men to be in their band and sing for them until they took control and formed an all-girl band.

With us rapping up with the project, we are completing social media and other forms to market our band. That will help spread our band to younger female audiences. I'm so excited with how the project is going and I can't wait see it all come together. Here's a small sneak peak of the fake band personas me and my group created I hope it makes you exited for more!!!
